In Hinduism, Sadhu is a common term for an ascetic, practitioner of yoga (yogi) and/or wandering monks. The sadhu is solely dedicated to achieving the fourth and final Hindu goal of life, moksha (liberation), through meditation and contemplation of Brahman.

Sadhus often wear saffron-colored clothing, symbolizing renunciation. From Wikipedia: In Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism), the deep saffron color is associated with sacrifice, religious abstinence, quest for light and salvation. Saffron or "Bhagwa" is the most sacred color for the Hindus and is often worn by Sanyasis who have left their home in search of the ultimate truth.

A Sadhu is usually referred to as Baba by common people. The word 'baba' means father, or uncle, in many Indian languages.
